Alexis Charitsis, MP, is the President of the parliamentary group of Nea Aristera (New Left) in Greece, which was established in December 2023.
He is a member of the Greek Parliament for Messinia regional unit, since 2019. During his first term as MP, he served as Press Officer of SYRIZA political party while from 2020 to 2023 he was the shadow Minister for Development and Investment.
During the period of 2015 to 2019, he served as Minister of Interior, Deputy Minister of Economy & Development (with responsibility for Public Investments Programme, the National Strategic Reference Frameworks (ESPA) , as well as for Industry and Growth Strategy matters) , Deputy Minister of Economy, Development and Tourism and Secretary General for Public Investments – NSRF/ PA.
He holds a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and a Master’s degree in Renewable Energy Sources from the University of Manchester. He has worked in the private energy sector for more than a decade, in Greece and abroad.
He is a father of two girls.
