Former Mayor of Thessaloniki

Konstantinos Zervas was born and raised in Thessaloniki. He graduated from the Experimental School of the University of Thessaloniki and the Department of Civil Engineering at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with honors. After his initial studies, he pursued postgraduate studies as a scholar at Brown University in the USA.

Since 1990, he has been living and working as a civil engineer and entrepreneur in Thessaloniki.

From 1994 to 1997, he was an elected member of the Board of Directors of the PAOK Athletic Club and also served as a technical advisor.

From April 2010 to March 2016, he served as a member of the Board of Directors of Attiko Metro S.A., a state company responsible for the design, construction and administration of subways in Athens and Thessaloniki.

Following his election as a Municipal Councillor of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, Greece’ second largest city, he assumed the role of Deputy Mayor of Environment in January 2011. 

In January 2013, he took on the duties of Deputy Mayor of Quality of Life, President of the Finance Committee of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, and permanent deputy of the Mayor of Thessaloniki.

In November 2013, he was elected as a member of the Central Representation of the Technical Chamber. He also served as President of the Board of  Directors of the State Orchestra of Thessaloniki, from August 2011 to December 2014.

In 2017, he became an Independent Municipal Councillor in the Municipality of Thessaloniki until October 2018, when he officially announced his candidacy for Mayor of Thessaloniki. 

In June 2019, he was elected as the 61st Mayor of Thessaloniki with a 67% vote share. 

Alongside his position as Mayor of Thessaloniki, he served as President of the Greek representatives of the European Council of Municipalities and Regions, Vice President of the Solid Waste Management Authority (FODSA), President of the Board of Directors of the Municipal Nursery of Thessaloniki “Saint Stylianos,” and participated in the Board of Directors of the Thessaloniki Urban Transport Organization (OASTH).

In the Municipal Elections of October 2023, his party came second, making him the head of the major opposition party in the City Council.

In April 2024 he was elected President of the Committee of Disposal and Water Resources Management of the Central Union of Greek Municipalities.
