Constantinos Cartalis is Professor of Environmental Physics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and Director of the Department of Environmental Physics.
He is member of the Bureau of the Subsidiary Body of United Nations (UNFCCC) for the Implementation of the Climate Convention and the Paris agreement. He acts as member of (a) the Assembly of the European Commission on Climate Neutral and Smart Cities and (b) the Global Risk Assessment Framework (GRAF) Working Group of United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR). He is Principal Investigator of the European Space Agency on sustainable urbanization.
He acts as the chairman of the working group of the Ministry of Culture on “Climate Change and Cultural Heritage” as well as member of the Steering Committee of the Center of Excellence of the University of Athens on “Climate Change – Adaptation and Mitigation”.
Has served as Member of the Scientific Committee as well as of the Management Board of the European Environment Agency, Vice President of the International Bureau of Education – UNESCO. Also as Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for the Environment (2010-2012) and Member of the Parliament of Greece (2007-2012) and Secretary General at the Ministry of Culture (2001-2004).
Has published 99 papers in international peer review scientific journals.
